Shawanda Clay is a Nashville-based nurse practitioner who currently serves as vice president of the National Black Nurses Association. She completed her master’s degree in nursing at Vanderbilt University in 1999 and has since worked in post-operative nursing, medical-surgical nursing, oncology, surgical intensive care and cardiac transplant. Ms. Clay is a founding charter member, immediate past president and past treasurer of the Black Nurses Association, Nashville chapter. She is also a member of the American Nurses Association and Tennessee Nurses Association. Since 2022, Ms. Clay has volunteered as a mentor at one of the Metro Nashville Public Schools health science academies.
